Proofreader / Copy Editor

TVGla is seeking a meticulous Proofreader / Copy Editor to join a digital AOR account team.

 

Responsibilities

 

The Copy Editor/Proofreader is responsible for editing all materials for clarity, grammar, spelling and punctuation for a well-known entertainment property. Detailed accuracy is a tenet of this brand, so fact-checking is also a must. The ideal candidate is able to be flexible and take ownership of their duties in a sometimes fast-paced and quickly changing environment. He or she should also be a great team player and able to help with other tasks as needed.

 

Content reviews include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Long and short-form articles 
  • Website copy 
  • Social content calendars, including any copy related to creative and/or videos
  • Emails
  • Registration & sweepstakes copy 
  • Presentations and other client deliverables

 

In addition to proofreading, the ideal candidate is also a proficient writer with an interest in developing brand voice across digital channels, and working directly with the client on story concepts. 

 

 

 

 

Skills
  • Requirements
    • Familiarity with the AP, Chicago, NY Times (or other) style guides to ensure accuracy and consistency of all copy
    • Perfect grammar and impeccable attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including an expert level knowledge of English language, grammar, spelling and punctuation
    • Knowledge of proofing marks and procedures
    • Experience creating or maintaining a brand style guide
    • Ability to handle multiple projects with close attention to priority and tight deadlines
    • Working knowledge and proficiency in G Suite (Google Drives, Docs, etc.) and Microsoft Powerpoint.
    • Appreciation for intellectual content; someone who loves to learn/loves knowledge
    • Associate’s degree or higher – preferably in English or a writing-related major
    • 1-5 years of experience performing proofreading in a professional services environment

     

    Preferred

    • Experience writing for a web publication
    • Experience working in entertainment
    • Proficiency in content management systems
